About Our Full-Spectrum Oil
What makes Akira’s full-spectrum oil unique?
- It’s made from organically cultivated hemp flower we grow on our pristine mountain farm.
- Our special extraction process uses subcritical CO2 to produce a highly potent full-spectrum oil that goes beyond the industry standard to deliver the perfect cocktail of beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.
- We are able to offer premium quality oil at an affordable price point. Supporting a small farm means cutting out the middle man. We pride ourselves on being able to offer the highest quality oil at the best price.
- We are plant people at heart. Our family farm in the Appalachian mountains of western North Carolina is home to a diversified selection of medicinal herbs and produce. The integrity of our crops is everything to us.
- We are transparent about our small batch extraction process. All of our products go through a round of independent third-party testing to verify cleanliness, purity, and strength.
Akira Botanicals’ oil is made from hemp flowers grown organically on our own farm in Marshall, North Carolina. A local processor in Asheville then extracts the cannabinoids and terpenes from our hemp flower converting it into a rich, full-spectrum oil. All of our oil is made in small batches with an emphasis on quality over quantity.
We also highly value purity, which is why our oil is extracted by a gentle and natural process called Sub-Critical CO2 Extraction, which does not use heat or chemicals. This extraction process creates a truly full-spectrum and pure oil as it preserves more of the cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant flower without the use of residual solvents such as ethanol and butane.
Effectiveness is everything and it is very important to retain these compounds in order to have a product that actually works. Products from other manufactures may boast a similar mg content, however, it is important to research the extraction process used in order to judge just how “full-spectrum” the product actually is. We believe the consumer has a right to know what’s in the products you purchase, which is why we conduct third-party laboratory testing for each of our products. We include these results with each purchase to demonstrate our commitment to full transparency and to ensure peace of mind for the end consumer.
FAQs About CBD Oil
Cannabidiol (CBD) is the second major cannabinoid found in cannabis plants like hemp and marijuana. Unlike the other major cannabinoid THC, CBD is non-psychoactive.
CBD oil or tincture are interchangeable terms used to describe the liquid extract of cannabidiol, a chief cannabinoid molecule contained in the cannabis plant. It is made by mixing CBD extract from a cannabis plant into a base such as MCT oil.
CBD oil has a very mild flavor and is easy to take directly under the tongue so that it absorbs quickly and easily into the bloodstream. Holding the oil under the tongue for 30-60 seconds catalyzes its absorption. Specific dosing and serving size information is printed on every bottle of Akira CBD oil.
Taken under the tongue, CBD oil usually has a calmative, relaxing effect on the body and offers a multitude of medicinal benefits. CBD can have a different effect depending on the dose taken and tends to be a stimulant in lower doses and a sedative in higher doses. CBD has been shown to be anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, antipsychotic, a digestive aid, protective to the brain, calmative to the nervous system, optimizing to the mood, and helps the body to return to a sense of healthy homeostasis.
The cannabis sativa plant contains more than 100 different cannabinoids, active ingredients which are extracted into CBD oil and fill the receptor sites of the human endocannabinoid system. CB1 and CB2 are the two primary endocannabinoid receptors filled by the various cannabinoids. Cannabinoids conduct and influence a huge range of functions within our physiology, from musculoskeletal sensation to memory function to hormone regulation.
The endocannabinoid system is the collection of cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids, and enzymes involved in the production and break down of endocannabinoids. Endocannabinoids are naturally occurring cannabinoids found within our body. The two most studied endocannabinoids are anandamide and 2-AG. The two most studied cannabinoid receptors are CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are located mostly in the brain and CB2 receptors are located mostly throughout the immune system.
Full-spectrum CBD is whole, unaltered plant medicine. It references the synergy of CBD’s flavonoids, volatile oils, terpenes, and cannabinoids which work together to provide its well-known “entourage effect.” Full-spectrum CBD may contain no more than 0.3% THC, the mind-altering cannabinoid which produces a ‘high.’
CBD has the ability to fight inflammation, mitigate anxiety, alleviate discomfort, promote deep sleep, promote skin healing, support gut health, maintain a healthy blood pressure and blood sugar, support recovery from substance abuse, promote a balanced state of mental health, benefit healthy joints, and more.
Terpenes are essential oils found in plants. There are around 200 terpenes in cannabis. They are what give cannabis its distinct aroma and flavor. Terpenes have beneficial effects and work synergistically with cannabinoids like CBD and THC–this relationship is called the “entourage effect.”
Drug tests do not test for specifically CBD, but in order for a product to be “full spectrum” it will contain trace amounts of THC, which can cause a failure of a drug test. Even if the amount of THC is very small as in the case of CBD hemp oil (which does not allow for a presence of THC higher than 0.3%), a drug test failure can occur if a person is using CBD hemp oil in large quantities. Caution must be taken with drug tests and CBD oil.
The entourage effect is the synergistic relationship of the naturally-occurring compounds found in cannabis plants. The cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids found in cannabis have shown to work better when they are taken together as opposed to in isolation from each other.
Yes, pets can benefit from CBD for many of the same conditions as humans: pain, seizures, inflammation, and anxiety. CBD is, generally, safe to use for pets, but their dosage will likely be much smaller than those of a human. Dogs have a higher concentration of cannabinoid receptors in their brain. This means they are very sensitive to THC. But a small amount of THC, like the amount in a full-spectrum CBD hemp oil, can be beneficial for animals. We recommend you speak with a veterinarian (holistic veterinarian) before giving your pet CBD.
